We are supporting the eco schools iniative!

This year the nursery strives to become more eco friendly. We have plans for biodiversity, nature reserve trips and much more.

The eco schools accreditation allows children and staff to work together for an earth friendly environment.

Keep an eye out for our nature based activities, that help the children learn about the world!

We wanted to give you a few examples of how you can teach your children to be more carbon neutral:

Talk food:

Food shopping is a great way to talk about the environment. Teach your children about what fruit and veg are in season. Whilst in the shop, compare where certain items come from and what sort of carbon footprint they might have.

Water:

It's important for our children to understand how precious water is. Get them to list all the ways your family use water; drinking, brushing teeth, washing clothes etc. Teach them the importance of turning the tap off when they're not using it and how that it can save money and reduce CO2 emissions.

Transport:

Ask your children to list all the different transport methods they can think of, go through the list and ask them what the costs might be to the planet and why. Think about the transport your family use each week and together, see if there is any way you can cut down on emissions.

Recycling:

Talk to your children about which products can be recycled and why it’s important to keep things out of landfill. You could also research local ways to recycle things you don’t need and donate unwanted toys and clothes to charity.

Energy use:

Ask your children to think about the ways we use energy around the house. Research what carbon emissions these products use and think about how you could make greener choices. Turning the TV off, drying outside instead of using the tumble dryer - these are small things you can do to improve your carbon footprint.
